Footloose - the Musical, Details

Carlmont Performing Arts Department presents Footloose – the Dance Musical, March 8 – 11th

The Carlmont High School Performing Arts Department presents the box office hit adapted to the stage – Footloose – the Dance Musical. Footloose will be performed by the Carlmont Performing Arts Department from March 8 - 11 in the beautiful, new Carlmont High School Performing Arts Center at 1400 Alameda de las Pulgas in Belmont.

Get ready to dance in the aisles as Footloose explodes onto the Carlmont High School stage. Life in small-town
Beaumont is peaceful until city boy Ren arrives. Breaking every taboo, Ren is determined to bring dance back to the heart of the community after its five-year ban that was instigated by the town preacher. When the preacher’s rebellious daughter Ariel sets her heart on Ren, her boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation.

Based on the hit ‘80s movie, Footloose, with its classic ‘80s anthems including “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “Holding Out For a Hero,” and “Footloose,” is a must see. Filled with high-spirited dancing, fun costumes and sets and a great theme about American spirit, Footloose is sure to be another Carlmont High School hit.

“The magic of this musical is that it transports us back to the ‘80’s with fun songs and a spirit that encourages everyone to fight for what you believe in,” explains Bernadette Fife, Director. “It’s a story about American spirit that is fun and entertaining.”

The production’s over 50 cast members showcase a talented group of students from Carlmont High School. In addition to the directing talents of Bernadette Fife, we are thrilled to have Ame Secrist as Choreographer, Genevieve Tep as Vocal Director and John DaBaldo as Music Director and Conductor. The performance includes an amazing Carlmont cast of over 50 students.

The set will encompass the fun ‘80’s where everything was footloose. This production will remind you that when times are hard, you shouldn’t forget to lift up your chin and dance. It transports you back in time to experience the conflict and joys in a small town as everyone in town transforms through song, dance and excellent acting.
